420 Stainless Steel Sheets and Plates consist of 12–14% chromium and 0.15% or less carbon, with very high hardenability and wear resistance. These martensitic stainless steel products are developed to obtain tensile strengths up to 700 MPa and Rockwell hardness between 50–55 HRC upon heat treatment. Though corrosion resistance is fair, their high mechanical strength makes them ideal for impact and friction applications. SS 420 has fair polishability and machinability too.
