Stainless Steel 348H is alloyed with chromium (17–20%), nickel (8–11%), and small additions of columbium (niobium) for stabilization. The “H” designation indicates a higher carbon content, which enhances its creep strength at temperatures above 800°F (427°C). Typical mechanical properties include a tensile strength of up to 600 MPa, yield strength of around 290 MPa, and excellent formability. Its stabilized structure prevents carbide precipitation, improving resistance to intergranular corrosion. These properties make 348H sheet and plates suitable for high-temperature and high-pressure service conditions in harsh industrial environments.
