Stainless Steel 17-4 PH Tubings consist of 15–17.5% chromium, 3–5% nickel, 3–5% copper, and minor amounts of niobium, manganese, silicon, and carbon. These tubings are strengthened by precipitation hardening following heat treatment and may possess tensile strength of as much as 1100 MPa and yield strength of about 1000 MPa. With a maximum hardness of 44 HRC (in H900 condition), 17-4 PH tubings provide high wear resistance, fatigue strength, and satisfactory corrosion resistance, particularly in moderately corrosive conditions. They preserve mechanical strength up to 600°F (315°C), which renders them suitable for high-performance engineering work.
