Stainless Steel 405 pipes are fabricated from a ferritic stainless steel alloy with a nominal composition of about 12% chromium and traces of aluminum, which increases oxidation resistance and reduces hardening when welded. Stainless Steel 405 pipes are moderately corrosion-resistant and possess good formability, with mechanical properties like tensile strength of 450–600 MPa and yield strength of about 250 MPa. SS 405 pipes have fine thermal stability, ductility, and better weldability than other grades of 12% chromium. They are best suited for use in applications demanding moderate strength and high-temperature oxidation and scaling resistance.
