Approximately 22–24% chromium and 12–15% nickel make up stainless steel 309 pipes, which provide remarkable resistance to heat and oxidation. With an elongation of 40%, these austenitic pipes have a tensile strength of roughly 550 MPa and a yield strength of roughly 205 MPa. Up to 1000°C, SS 309 retains its mechanical strength.
