The iron used to make stainless steel 310S coils has a low carbon content (≤0.08%), 24–26% chromium, and 19–22% nickel, which improves weldability and reduces carbide precipitation. At temperatures as high as 1100°C, these coils provide outstanding resistance to oxidation and scaling. Mechanical characteristics include a 40% elongation, a yield strength of 205 MPa, and a tensile strength of roughly 515 MPa.
