SMO 254 Coils consist of around 20% chromium, 18% nickel, 6% molybdenum, and minor amounts of nitrogen and copper, with great resistance against pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. The mechanical characteristics consist of tensile strength of approximately 650 MPa, yield strength of approximately 300 MPa, and elongation to 50%. The coils are resistant to high impact and endurance at sub-zero temperatures. SMO 254’s high alloy content is best used in applications where a high corrosion resistance coupled with excellent mechanical properties are required, particularly in seawater, chemical processing, and offshore environments.
