Stainless Steel 420 Stud Bolts consist of around 12–14% chromium and 0.15% carbon and are martensitic stainless steel with elevated strength and hardness. The bolts attain a tensile strength of as much as 700 MPa and Rockwell hardness of 50–55 HRC when heat-treated. Though corrosion resistance is less than austenitic types, they are adequate for light atmospheric and chemical exposure. Their dimensional stability, mechanical strength, and resistance to wear qualify them for use in mechanical stress-bearing components.
