Stainless Steel 446 Nuts are manufactured from a ferritic alloy having a chromium content of about 23–27%, supplemented by small amounts of molybdenum, silicon, and manganese. This material has great resistance to scaling and oxidation at temperatures of up to 1100°C. These nuts have moderate mechanical strength, a tensile strength of around 485 MPa, and excellent resistance to sulfuric atmospheres and thermal fatigue. Although not suitable for welding, SS 446 nuts retain their structural integrity in harsh conditions.
